St. Andrew’s Church, Roxbourne

How do I .   .   .   .   ?

Book a Baptism

If you live within the parish of St Andrew or worship in the church or have some family connection, you may have your child baptised. To arrange a date for the baptism and some baptism preparation for parents, you should contact the vicar.

However, baptism is not just for babies and young children. Many adults today wish to be baptised as they find faith in Jesus Christ. In the Church of England the practice is to baptise and confirm adults at the same time, so that they may then receive Holy Communion. For those wishing to take this next step in their faith journey, preparation courses are held on a regular basis. Ask Revd Christine when the next will be. link to contacts There is no fee for a baptism.

Become Confirmed.

If you are baptised and aged 11years and above and wish to declare publicly your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour then you may be confirmed. As this is  a big commitment   the church asks that you attend  a  confirmation course so that you understand the basics of the Christian faith and what it means to live a Christian life. To know when the next course is available and express your interest in joining it speak to Revds Christine or Elaine. link to contacts

Book a Wedding

Marriage laws in this country can be quite complex and you will need to contact the Revd Christine for a full explanation. However, you will be able to be married here if you live within the boundaries of the parish, or do not live in the parish and are on the St Andrew’s electoral roll, or if have a very close family connection with the church.

You may marry after banns have been read out, if you live in the parish, or by common or special licence if you do not. Again this would need to be discussed with the vicar.

The Church of England sets the standard fees for a wedding - the vicar will explain them when you enquire.

Our organist will be pleased to play at your wedding and to assist you in the choice of music (fee £60) We can also peal the bells after your wedding (fee £30).

Book a Funeral

Your funeral director will usually contact the vicar to arrange a funeral service in church. However it is always a good idea to confirm that the church and the vicar will be available before you set the date and time
